The Various Representations of Kings in the 12th Century

Just as in the cloister of the Abbey of Saint-Denis near Paris, several column-statues in the cloister of Châlons depicted kings from the Old Testament.

As in Saint-Denis, some are shown crowned, while others were sometimes depicted with a nimbus.
